It is not likely that he was born there, but may have been born in North Carolina or some area in between the two.1 He married Winna (_____) (2252) circa 1795. He died between 1850 and 1860 in Limestone Co., Alabama; He is listed in the 1850 Census for Limestone Co., But his wife Winna is living with her children in the 1860 Census and he is not listed.1

Polly Pipes also has a marriage consent and a bond from Washington Co., Kentucky dated July of 1817 . She must have been born from the previous marriage by George Pipes to Gemima Pipes. This consent was signed by George Pipes, so he was still in Ky in 1817. George was married to Gemima Pipes i n 1798, making Polly about 18 years old at her marriage.

It states his cause of death was inflamation of the liver and his age as about 62.16

His enlistment into the Civil War Infantry unit in September of 1861 gives his age as 19, which would mean a birth year of 1841. In the 1870 Census his age is given as 24 which would yield a birth year of 1846.22 He married Eliza Gray (4181) on 12/3/1865 in Limestone Co., Alabama, M; The 1870 Census gives the age of their son William as 1 year old, so a marriage date of 1868 seems reasonable, although it may have occured anytime between the end of the war and 1868.21,13 He married Laura Pitts (5132) on 9/24/1890 in Limestone Co., Alabama.31,24 He died circa 1930 in Limestone Co., Alabama. He was buried circa 1930 in Old Salem Church Yard, Salem, Limestone Co., Alabama.

B Mcguire and McGuire's family as a laborer.22,11 He married Angeline McGuire (4183) on 7/2/1870 in Limestone Co., Alabama.21
He served in the 26th Alabama Infantry with his brother John. This unit was later renamed to the 50th Alabama. In the 1870 Census for Limestone Co. Alabama, George is age 23, b. Alabama, Farmer, Value of real estate is $100.00, Also in house is Angeline, his wife, age 37, b. Tenn and two of her children from a previous marriage to a man named W. B. McGuire. They are Rufus McGuire age 15 and Viola McGuire age 8.21 In the 1880 Census for Limestone Co. , Alabama, both his parents were born in Ala.; With him in House are wife, Angeline, age 48, b. Tenn.; (Her parents born NC & Va).; Children in House: Viola McGuire, age 14; stepdaughter; Mollie McGuire, age 24, Stepdaughter; Martha, age 9, daughter; James, age 5, son; All children b. Ala.20

Olivet Cemetery, Marceline, Linn Co., Missouri.25
The following was reported by Betty Higbee in communication with me in April of 1999.
Grant was a small man of 5' 4" in height. He worked as a coal miner and lived in Washington state, Wyoming and Montana around the turn of the century. He was an active member of the United Mine Workers of America and served as a delegate to many Union functions.
He was also elected to the office of Police Magistrate in Cherry, Bureau Co., Illinois in 1926.25
